Here is a question that I always ask myself in the energy markets when looking at WTI and Nat Gas: If you have to buy one and short one which would be which?

The answer to that question can lead me to many things - take one long position, take one short position, take one long AND one short position or stay out of the market entirely. One thing I will not do however is take two longs or two shorts. I am not interested in that kind of exposure.

So today I found myself wondering which was which?

Nat Gas is currently coming back from under the floorboards and quickly

Guys, if seasonality is to be "believed", there might be infliction point for NGAS in about 1-2weeks, right? Would appear BUY from there, what do you think?
Can you afford to take that chance?

This is very logical thinking, but we are already well into winter and it's been very warm in the US compared to other winters. Demand relies on the cold winter that seems like it's not going to come this year. Even though I don't see prices going up, I do not believe shorting Natural Gas is a good idea in the winter months.

I'm with you on not getting short NG during winter... And winter goes until late March so there's still time.

Does anyone know why WTI has a lot size of 100 Bbl with a tick value of $1 while USOil has a lot size of 1,000 Bbl with a tick value of $10? Or is this broker dependent?

Short wti, long natgas is my play since the past 1 months and half or so
Wti barely moved, gas moved up

I expect both to move more, maybe gas above 3 dollars, and oil around 35 dollars
