In the UK, spreadbetting profits are classified as "gaming" and as such are subject to neither Income Tax nor Capital Gains Tax (even if they constitute the trader's sole earnings). Under a relatively new scheme, some immigrants to Portugal don't necessarily have to pay any taxes at all on "overseas income" arising within their first 10 years of residence in the country, but as far as I'm aware it hasn't yet been established whether income from offshore trading accounts,...Ignored

I'm thinking of moving to Portugal by the end of next year and would love to hear if anything has been finalised on this yet. I know that UK pensions are non-taxable but an unsure about profits from spreadbetting, especially if I keep my account in the UK although I would be resident for tax in Portugal. . . . tricky, huh?
