Hi all,
I'm compiling a list of which brokers offer application programmer interfaces (APIs) that can be developed against and the programming languages they support.
Just to clarify I mean they provide a method to back your own trading algorithm or software onto their brokerage service(s).
The goal being to compile an inventory of what is on offer and to assess:

Just to clarify I mean they provide a method to back your own trading algorithm or software onto their brokerage service(s).
The goal being to compile an inventory of what is on offer and to assess:
- ease of use
- technical support
- usage requirements e.g. FIX API access generally requires volume etc
- open source projects supporting access e.g. heaps of code around Oanda's RESTful interface.
- short-comings of their method (in the case proprietary APIs e.g. FXCM's Forex Connect)
- access to quotes
- access to historical data
- trading costs.
It would also be handy if to possible compose some GitHub Gists to illustrate/demonstrate API and 3rd party/Open source usage.
Should be a good resource for all keen on rolling their own or backing existing work on to another/more brokers. Please add to what is here by sharing your experiences (positive and negative).

EDIT: Added dot points for access to quotes and historical data
