Disliked{quote} I understand the calculations in MT4's terminal, i.e. Equity = Balance + Profit/Loss Free margin = Equity – Margin Margin level% = Equity / Margin x 100 In the account summary, it looks like: Margin available = Balance + Unrealized P&L – Margin Used i.e. 317.57 + (-63.40) – 205.48 = 48.69 (let's put the 1c difference down to rounding) I assume that the small difference between P/L in the Terminal (-63.79) and Unrealized P&L (-63.40) is due to swap. The problem is that the Margin Used in the Account Summary (205.48) is vastly different from...Ignored
This calculation uses the following formula:
({BASE} / {Home Currency}) * units) / (margin ratio)
For example, suppose:
Home Currency = USD
Currency Pair = GBP/CHF
Base = GBP; Quote = CHF
Base / Home Currency = GBP/USD = 1.5819
Units = 1000
Margin Ratio = 20:1
Then, margin used:
= (1.5819 * 1000) / 20
= 79.095 USD
