I come to find out that the repository Java is Generic with Linux Ubuntu etc. at lesat the main respository that comes with these OS versions. Basically it appears that as Linux is an open source the open source guru'z created their own java version dirivatives. So the Origianl Oracle Java was evaded. That is good for general Java like environments that the average person would use on a Linux platform however in the trading world where we have the "it Don't work scenario". I had communicated with Oanda on this 4 times and got the bubble gum machine responses.
Here on this forum is where I got the detail and direction to fix this time wasteful issue of simple getting Fxtrade to open in Linux. I was able to get rid of the generic javaz and Icetea plugs in Mint 9 and install Oracle JRE7u5. Fxtrade works fine as a webpage login with Firefox. But still won't work as a desktop or thru Opera. That seems good enough to suffice the effort of getting Fxtrade to work in Linux. I now question the intergrity of Oanda regarding anything NON-Windows based as a far a support go's.
I hope that Oanda tightens up the behind the scenes efforts as they continue to dress up their website. Implementing a Flash version of Fxtrade would be a great alternative to the Java biased Fxtrade as it stands now.
Thanks for all the helpul posts here regarding the Java Linux situation.
