Hi all. So it's been a long time since I've been planning to start trading news. Now that time almost finally came. I have enough funds, well, at least I think I do, lol. And now all I need is a final confirmation regarding internet speed and trading platform for news trading from people that I'm sure know more than me. Let's begin.
My current internet speed is around 100mbps. Test shows 93 download and 94 upload with 5ms latency. Now is there any need to upgrade my internet to lets say whopping 1GB/s? Would I get faster execution speeds? Is there a point where internet speed doesn't matter anymore? Because you reached maximum point at which it will not make your trades any faster.
And what about trading platform? I've seen couple times on this very forum that gud ol metatrader is garbage when it comes to news trading. Because it's just too slow. And if I remember correctly, somebody said that the execution time is locked or something like that and can't get any faster than 200ms. Something like that. On the other hand, there is a news trading thread here where people do trade with metatrader. Now I don't know their exact strategy. Maybe they're entering into correction after initial spike where execution time when every milisecond counts is not important anymore. Where's I'm planning to trade that initial spike just after news release and maybe correction afterwards. So fast execution time is critical for me to enter that spike as soon as possible.
There's one more thing I forgot to mention. Which confuses me the most. And that is VPS. I don't know much about it but common sense tells me that it would be wise to get a VPS closest to my broker servers to improve execution times and to reduce latency as much as possible. But again, the question is, would it make that much of a difference? I mean, would all these factors like internet speed and platform itself make any difference at all to successfully and profitably trade news? Maybe I'm just wasting my time? And money...
Any info will be highly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
