What Hedging Strategies do you use and what is the strategy behind it????? 3 replies
DislikedI made over 140 pips on USDJPY last night with a hedging strategy.
1st of all, hedging one currency is best done in a sideways market. This began on Jan 16 and is still in tact.
Secondly, you must be willing to take on a fair amount of risk as the opposing orders need to be placed well away from each other. i.e. whipsaws can grab all your orders just before price moves in an unfavorable direction.
Thirdly, every time in the past I've tried to explain my strategy, someone is always there to explain why what I've done so well in the past shouldn't be done, so I've resigned myself to silence on the subject until I have years of verifiable results that I can write a book about. I work two part time jobs and don't wish to spend valuable time defending what I know from experience to be true.
My advice to you is experiment with a demo account for as long as it takes to become cumfortable with the strategy. Try different things (think outside the box)
Good luck
PS I prefer a good strong trend to the current crazy markets, but in the end, it all comes down to profit.Ignored
DislikedGood man.
I have seen money made with it, not saying it can't be done. However the same positions could be taken using a stop and limit vs a hedge to produce the same results with less risk.Ignored
Dislikedhmmm...
That's assuming that your stops and limits will be executed in this fast moving market. Personaly, I find that Buy and Sell limit and stop ORDERS are executed allmost always. The exception being during news releases. Too often I've seen my take profit and stop levels passed over only to turn back into a loss. That's the main reason I prefer opposing orders.Ignored
