Today I was surprised when I asked my broker to refund a certain amount of my account. They told me the bank charged 20£ per transaction. :surprised
Now I live in the Eurozone and my broker is UK based. So their bank could be allowed to charge some costs for a transaction from GPP to EUR. But 20 British Pounds isn't nothing. Certainly not if you want to withdraw a relatively small amount like I did and am planning to do more frequently in the coming year.
Since 2003 banks in the Eurozone cannot charge more to customers of other countries for non-cash cross-border transactions than they do to customers from their own country.
So what I would like to know is if there are people here also living in the Eurozone and what their experiences are with fund withdrawal. Do you work with Eurozone brokers and who are they? Do you also work with UK based brokers or brokers from other countries and do they also charge these huge transaction fees?
I would really like to know.
