Powell has figured in this reactive mode of the Fed that a recession is the fastest surest way to cool inflation at the opportunity cost of a (manageable hopefully) level of layoffs. Best of luck and hope it does not blow up - since it is a real tricky manoeuvre.

Looking at the history the track record of Feds raising rates to control inflation in hope of a soft landing without a recession is very low.
