French manufacturing sector growth remains strong in April
April PMI® data pointed to another marked improvement in business conditions across the French manufacturing sector, as output and new orders continued to rise sharply. Meanwhile, input costs increased at the strongest rate for a decade amid widespread reports of raw material shortages. The seasonally adjusted IHS Markit France Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index® (PMI) – a single-figure measure of developments in overall business conditions – registered 58.9 in April, down marginally from 59.3 in March.
