I don't know exactly why but the area in the GBP/USD chart that I have circled in blue looks a little odd to me - too regimented. It doesn't seem like a natural move; not from my experience of following Cable over the last few years anyway. image

If you compare all those crosses to USD/JPY, we see exactly the same pattern.

If you look at some more crosses, such as EUR/JPY, CAD/JPY, SGD/JPY and GBP/JPY, I think we can see that the movement is being driven by JPY strength (and USD weakness), not CHF weakness. My conclusion might be wrong of course, but that's how I read ...

Here's the CHF/JPY chart for the same time period. Now you could conclude that CHF was weakening by looking at just this chart and the two above. However......
