I make my living off of 5-10 pip moves, over and over again. The key is proper MM and knowing when to increase and decrease your lot size and having a feel for when momentum is entering the market. When I see/feel it, I go for it.

I have the freezing quotes all too frequently. Especially when the market action gets pretty fast (not news related either). I don't know what the 'real' problem is but it the fact remains that it is a real ongoing issue. It's almost like being ...
EFX/MBT quote freezing problem.

I scalp most of the time, somewhere between 2-20 pips depending on market movement of course. I use Oanda and they are just fine. I also have an account with EFX but trading with Oanda is cheaper - don't forget on those 1 pip spreads at EFX you also ...

I watch candlestick formations, they can tell you alot about what price is going to do. The higher time frame charts will carry more weight but I still use candle closes on the 5min to verify a direction, especially if a candle close supports a ...

I use the daily, weekly and monthly pivots. A confluence of pivots can provide some great areas for bounces. As for the daily pivots, my bias is usually long once price breaks above the central PP and short below. Very often price will break through ...

I use both Oanda and EFX. 99% of my capital is with Oanda since they are cheaper to trade with and offer interest on my capital. Oanda's execution has been just as good as EFX (which was a main selling point for me when I first went to EFX), no ...

3422 is the .382 ret level of the down move from the high of 4/27 to the low of 6/13. The weekly R1 pivot and a monthly pivot sit at the 3429-30 area. Lots of res here and the 60min is showing a near double top with some big time neg div on MACD. ...

Can you pay your bills with that demo account? A demo account doesn't take into effect your emotions. You may think you're trading the same way you would if it were real money but you won't. Period. Not to say this isn't a good sign but until you ...
MY trades with demo account

I'll second that! I trade the EUR primarily due to the 1.2 spread and the fact that Oanda is great with fills and I've never had any issue scalping. Also, the fact that Oanda pays interest on my capital is a great added benefit for me.

Are you awake during these news time events you mention? If so, sounds like the easist solution is to move your stop, or take it off so you don't get taken out like that.
Oanda just lower their spreads!!

Please post some screenshots when some actual volitile news is released. Looks interesting and I'd be curious to see how well it functions with live orders during a volitile news event.

Yes, the daily interest on my capital at Oanda was huge benefit as far as I'm concerned. That can really add up fast. EFX did not offer that and I'm not sure about PFG. I believe I read that ODL offered interest on capital too. I'm still interested ...
anyone use pfgforex currenex?
- bugscoe replied Jun 1, 2007
I'm demoing their currenex platform at this time. I don't have the facts yet as to their fees, but the only advantage I'm seeing over Oanda (I use both Oanda and EFX) is their news time spreads. Their spread on the EU fluctuates between 1-2 pips ...

pino - have you only used this on the GBP? Any backtests you've done on the EUR? I haven't looked at this yet, but given the smaller spreads on the EUR, it may work quite good as well...

I think it's effects are huge and is 100% the reason why some 90% of people fail. The most basic one is letting losses run and cutting winners way short. I see it everyday with some of the traders I'm in contact with. For instance, one trader was ...
How much of Forex trading is psychological?

Given we have had no 60min or 15 min closes above the .236 ret level of today's high and low, it seems another push lower is very possible. My first price proj would be 9950 and then 9920.
