FWIW, what you're referring to is essentially the pitfall known as survivorship bias, and it's a skewing factor across the entire investment world - stocks indices, mutual funds, hedge funds, CTAs, etc.

You'd want the candle close to occur at the true market close of 1700 ET (+4 or 5 GMT depending on daylight savings). Since MT4 time is set server-side, most brokers (that know what they're doing) have 1700 ET as the close regardless of where ...
Do any brokers allow you to adjust the time their daily candles are formed?

Precisely. No repercussions for you. Possible repercussions for the foreign broker if they don't register with the NFA/CFTC and continue to service US clients.
Laws pertaining to US Clients trading overseas
- Trader KGB replied Dec 27, 2010
With all due respect, I wasn't implying anything.
Regulating foreign companies' right to do business with US citizens is exactly what (part of) the law states. Things could be worse, Japan is imposing 25:1 on its brokers.Laws pertaining to US Clients trading overseas

The law doesn't pertain to US citizens directly, only to the foreign brokers/banks servicing them. You are free to do whatever you wish.

The spread is simply the differential between the bid & ask. When they widen the spread, they widen the distance from the bid/ask midpoint to the bid & ask, respectively. It is not 'added to the ASK'. They don't do anything, it's what the ...

- Trader KGB replied Dec 23, 2010
To be more specific, most every market maker will widen their spreads during those times, ECN brokers will simply reflect the spreads of the interbank market. Oanda is definitely unique in terms of spread widening. They do it aggressively and widen ...

I used to do the same except via FTP across 3 computers, 2 locations, and at least once per day. Dropbox.com (with selective sync of just those folders) has been a literal godsend..

Here's one example, that's the biggest really, I imagine most novices are unfamiliar with P&L conversion. Also, TWS (their platform) is a bit more advanced/cumbersome than your average run-of-the-mill FX platform, especially MT4.

Oanda and IB will pay you benchmark AUD rates on your AUD account balance, something that's probably worth keeping. IB is unique in that your P&L in a foreign currency remains in that currency until which time you covert it back to your base ...
Should I open AUD account if im trading major pairs?
- Trader KGB replied Dec 17, 2010
Sorry but neither exist. Stick to ECNs. MBT has already been mentioned, and there are several others. InteractiveBrokers edges them out in the commission department, but I wouldn't recommend them for novices.

Except their profitability numbers are completely skewed by their inclusion of dormant accounts which are interest-baring (and thus are considered 'profitable'). This competely distorts the banner ad proclamations.. I'm hoping the CFTC revises the ...

Definitely no last look at Hotspot, that's why it's so heavily $2-3, banks/LPs don't want to expose more liquidity without the safety of last look.
