Looks like the housewives gave in to pressure, time to reverse and go short yet? Tomorrow looks like an unmitigated disaster..

Looks like it just broke that tight range, despite the Nikkei & Australia selloff and the US futures under heavy pressure. I guess the housewives are extra busy tonight. The bear in me says the shoe is going to drop when europe opens though (just ...

Let's hope it stays that way. Another Bear Stearns hedge fund blowup after the bell. Futures firmly in the red below today's close. I won't hesitate to short the rally tonight if we get one.

Wow very nice Dove. And then you also went short from the breach at 119.04 and took profit at 118.74? Not bad for one day!

If you were actively trading at that time, I take it you'd have gone short?

Obvious indeed, especially in hindsight. I had set an alarm to trigger if that 119.50 pivot level was hit. When it wasn't breached, it was an excellent short entry.. don't ask me why I didn't partake..

The elliot wave guru over at DailyFX mentioned last week in the aftermath of the selloff that traders should trade USD/JPY as they would the market indices. Since then, it has traded in near lockstep with the ES (S&P500 emini). I'll agree that the ...

Dutch, That's definitely a probable scenario. Frankly I'm surprised how quickly the global markets shrugged off last week's rout. I thought in the best case scenario we'd see some serious stop hunting before continuing higher (U/J < 118, A/J < 100, ...

Indeed. Nice to see it found support at 119 on that last drop (a level it's had so much difficulty with these past few days). Now just the R1 pivot to contend with again and the 200-day SMA at 119.60

Careful with that. The dollar rally of last week is about to fade back into obscurity, and the revenge of the carry trade is in full force, AUD/JPY +1%.

Did you get out near the high? Also, a question I had earlier but you might have missed, has U/J always respected pivots this closely in the past? Which charting software are you using to calculate them?

Yes, exactly as it did last week, like clockwork. Has it always behaved this way around pivots in the past?

At what level was the central pivot located? Also, if 118 were to break, what are your initial targets (based upon daily/weekly pivots)? If the opposite occurs and the trend you mentioned comes to fruition, what are your targets in that scenario? ...

Because they were far more overbought. Keep in mind, UJ has fallen from 124 already, in terms of overall % off the high, UJ is well ahead of the pack. That last leg up in June on all of the other jpy pairs was in large part helped by the heavy ...
