Have you checked the daily, weekly, or monthly charts for cad/jpy?!?! I think shorting it would be suicide, and the usd/cad is still trending down nicely, and until I see it giving any decent signs of a reversal i wouldnt think about long at all.

Generally speaking the news should never be traded by someone new to forex/trading. The way the "pros" do it is seconds after the data is released (FF calendar is good, but not quick enough to do actual news trading) execute their trades. Then there ...

I think it may retrace down to 7200 or possibly even 7100.. 38 and 50% fibs.. its also in quite a downtrend on the smaller timeframes, though obviously up on the longer timeframes, so i'd simply wait till 72 or 71 then place a buy.

If i understand you properly then now that you have $105 in your account, if you want to consistently risk 3%, then you would now risk $3.15 per trade. Likewise if your account went down to $50,, @ 3% risk per trade, you would now be risking $1.50 ...

maybe set a trailing stop of 30 (or however many pips you are comfortable with) pips and let it go from there. that way you are guaranteed 470 pips, and there is a chance you will get a few more.

Looks to me like though it is in an obvious uptrend (4hr and daily), it has stalled right on the 78.6 fib line, so wait for a signal for it to break out bullish, and then take a long, just my thoughts. edit: and a perfect double bottom on the 4hr, ...
