The whole thing is so frustrating! IG have send an email saying that open positions will not be affected but that any position opened from 2nd August will have new leverage applied. Either way, the whole thing is pants!

That's the frustrating thing! The fact that your stop of 20-30 pips means you are risking only £20-£30 has no bearing on the margin required. You would in fact need over £400!

Yes, there are a few non-EU brokers filling the gap, primarily in Australia (like IC Markets). There are some discussions about this topic, but surprisingly few given the huge change in leverage taking place in less than a month! All the best TS

No problem :-) I'm hoping my UK broker pulls something out of the bag too, I still can't quite believe they are just going to let all those clients go elsewhere!

Pros: good leverage, nice platform, orders filled no problem Cons: will have to pay UK tax (spread betting at the moment) Unknowns: speed of withdrawals, haven't done it yet but looks straightforward

Still just over a month to go for the EU brokers to pull something out of the bag... My Plan B is to move my funds over to IC Markets, I've already opened an account to get used to the platform and it all looks good so far!
