gammase1 replied Jan 8, 2009The Brits have a general desire for a weaker currency in order to support exports and make imports more expensive. That is common sense. However, the BOE know they must tread cautiously with their management of policy rates, as a desireable sell-off ...

gammase1 replied Jan 8, 2009Hahaha... Each to their own, Steelhead. I don't tell you how to trade and you don't tell me.... I mainly trade equities, the price movements of which, due to the length of time I hold, have far more to do with fundamentals than technicals. This is ...

gammase1 replied Jan 8, 2009The current price of Cable reflects the likely path of UK interest rates, meaning the market is anticipating a minimum 50 basis point cut today, with a small probability of a bigger cut. The dire UK economic data from recent weeks/months forewarned ...

gammase1 replied Jan 7, 2009I doubt it very much. As FXlocal said earlier, it's more likely to be institutional position squaring ahead of tomorrow's decision, which triggered the short squeeze just seen, after key levels of resistance were taken out.

gammase1 replied Jan 7, 2009Why? A rate cut is a done deal, the only unknown is the size, with current market expectations ranging from 50-100bps. It is likely the MPC will take the Bank rate to 1.5%. However, if the MPC shock the market by only cutting by 25bps, then sterling ...

gammase1 replied Dec 31, 2008Yes, that's pretty much how it works. Although with the sheer depth and size of the daily spot market for GBP/USD, and other majors, it is very difficult and far too risky a proposition for an individual broker to try and move the market by dumping ...

gammase1 replied Dec 30, 2008I'll be doing a Steelhead at and around parroty, and start slowly building shorts. Fundamentally, I think the eurozone, and the euro, is in for an abrupt wake-up call in the coming weeks, possibly months, as the markets finally realise the Emperor's ...

gammase1 replied Dec 29, 2008Felt a bit nervous placing longs at that level, after price dropped immediately after execution, but 1.4460 should provide an obvious area where stops should be clustered. A re-test of 1.4460 area seems plausible before a bigger move up. Have taken ...
