I'm in favor of the former.
I'm usually the futures proponent, so it didn't seem like the right stance to me anyway.

Anyone aggressive enough to short here? Looks like the retracement is well underway, though we're still a good distance off Friday's low. Until we see a lower low, it's far too soon to draw conclusions.

Except it's a flawed analysis to use TradeStation's spreads as the basis for the comparison. Any scalper/daytrader worth his/her salt is on an ECN. Here's a better comparison (real time). 6C at 1 pip, vs spot at 0.2 pip. Notice the size differential ...

cesarnc - where were you after the triangle break? There were a couple more possible entries.. The first was a retrace immediately after the triangle break back to the triangle ceiling (far left of chart). Then price hugged the 38.2 level for nearly ...

0.4 is the r/t commission. Each side is 0.2. So that's $2.82 vs $2. But you're right about one thing, the spot spreads on TradeStation are pretty wide for a commissioned FX broker... They really need to drop Gain as the middleman/dealing desk if ...

The worst thing is, he was forced to liquidate in the weeks leading up to the Fed rate cut. According to the article, had he held, he would have "recouped most of the losses". Talk about terrible luck/timing..

Could you explain in more detail how you handled this trade? The ZQ market priced in the NFP figure instantly. If you shorted after the news, there were only a couple of ticks left on the table..Soultrader's Clinic :)

Technically they all do. It's more of a question as to whether your MT4 broker is correctly using the NY close for its daily close. From my testing of dozens of demo server files, I've found that only FXDD is using the correct daily close of 17:00 ...

The force index is calculated by subtracting the prior period's close from current period's close and multiplying the result by the current period's volume. Since FX has no volume, this indicator has little/no relevance. Your MT4 broker may be ...

Your best bet is to use an API bridge and submit your orders through IB. They offer ECN-level interbank spreads which will be leaps and bounds tighter than anything found through the dealing desk MT4 brokers. The options are listed in this thread.

I don't trade it currently, I just use it (and the other euro crosses) as a gauge of relative value.

EUR/AUD is still some 250 pips off its July lows, so the run on A/U has to taken relative to the USDX. The institutions showed us today that even in light of dollar positive news (along with a tumble in fed funds futures), for them it was an ...

PropFX was folded into FXCM's dealing desk. It's still a different platform, but the spreads are much the same (maybe a pip tighter, but not much).

I would trade cautiously if you're on the short side. Price broke the triangle that was building for 7 weeks. 38.2 fib is also broken (finally). All technicals are improving.

Definitely. U/J just broke out of the triangle it was forming since 8/23. I believe that's what drove that wave of yen selling right when London opened up, as I don't see anything news related. Next step is the 38.2 fib about 15 pips away from ...
