There is no minimum tradesize and you can trade any odd amount, but there are 2 different FX exchanges on IB. Trades smaller then USD 25k will be routed to 'Ideal' (a bit wider spreads and much higher commission) trades bigger than 25K will be ...

FDIC guarantees only up to $250K - not enough by a mile for most brokers. Also, it will take quite some time for FDIC to actually deliver the guaranteed funds - if during that time the broker can not meet its financial obligations, a client can file ...

I am using this via API to feed history/realtime data to Neoticker. It works pretty reliable. Beats IBs api by miles. Now if they could just cut their fees by 50%..

Yes Sandy is pushing for Dukascopy since like forever.. IB grants volume based commission-discounts like every other ECN (including Dukas).
Going live with USD100k, which broker should I choose?

Every ECN offers API access, if you are a good MQL4 programmer you shouldn't have too much trouble porting your system to a real programming language. Alternatively, you can use software like Ninjatrader or Neoticker and use their existing ...

Nice pricing. I guess Hotspot will have to do something soon, or else they will loose market share. Constantly 2-3 pips in eur/usd and usd/jpy just doesn't cut it.
Why not a central Forex exchange?

You said "2.03 swap points per day" - whatever you mean by points, i assumed you meant pips, which it is not. Oanda pays 4.015% annualized for gbp/jpy longs (4.8% GBP bid - 0.785% JPY offer). Doesn't seem too bad too me. How much are the others ...
Which broker offers highest swap rates?
- shrike replied Sep 28, 2008
"For 10 000 units GBP/JPY longs held for 24 hours earned interest is 2,03 $. that is 2,03 swap point for 1 day." No - with a mini-lot position in gbp/jpy 1 pip is not worth $1 - that is only true for pairs with usd as base currency like eur/usd. ...

You can get in on the institutional platform with only a 25K deposit, for example via aarontrade (altho with 500K minimum order size a 25K deposit doesn't make much sense in my opinion). Hotspot institutional as well as retail aint looking so hot ...
Going live with USD100k, which broker should I choose?

You said the only choice were 'stop hunting market makers vs low liquidity ecn's' - which simply isn't true. That's whining in my book. However, there are providers who combine multiple ecns into one platform (google vCap Futures) - unfortunately ...

If you trade long term, strategic positions you are only limited by your margin. If you trade shortterm 1 click per trade you are also limited by liquidity. For example right now on HotspotFXi 1 mio eur/usd is 1-2 pips wide, 50 mio. is 5-8 pips ...

Why not just use CQG. Its a better piece of software and probably cheaper than MT4 licence and ICap API. They offer EBS data too.
