First buy signal since mid-Dec, I'm in from mid 104. Everything looking up on this pair now. Huge outperformance of the loonie against every single currency today (especially the dollar). Back above the weekly trendline, above the H4 downtrend, MACD ...

I'll probably sit on the sidelines until FOMC. Far too volatile. They just went down 2%, up 2%, and back down 2% all in about 36 hours. The 75bp cut barely put a dent into the de-leveraging and unwinding going on (and still to come).

FED cuts 75 just now!!!
- Trader KGB replied Jan 22, 2008
That's 0.50% in Japan and now 3.5% here in the US. Next week could see the US rate head down to 3%. Carry trade is still here b/c the USD is becoming a funding currency..

AUD/NZD getting crushed here by the underperformance of Aussie in this recent rally. Strange to see it underperform so drastically. Sterling, euro, kiwi, franc etc are all up 100-200 pips in the past few hours but Aussie is just sitting around half ...

Is he kidding? Or was this article published before August 2007? After we just witnessed three separate periods of 1000-3000 pip movements in the various yen crosses (each occurring in the span of a few weeks), how could you possibly say volatility ...

Rallies may be capped as long as UJ sits below its monthly trendline (~108.35). The question is what does UC do after the BoC's rate cut this week? They're only expecting a 25bp cut for the loonie vs 50-75bp when the Fed meets next week. Dodge's ...

Not sure what you mean by this.. The forward yield curve is already factored into the backmonth yen futures, trading that against spot would basically result in a wash.

Interesting results. Just to confirm, are these full pivot point break signals, or just generated when the BB squeeze expanded beyond the trigger level? (irregardless of the central pivot being broken)Pivot Point Squeeze, high probability system

True. In a stat arb sense, you could buy the Dow futures and short USD/JPY in hopes that the correlation "gap" is corrected. However, it's not a 1:1 ratio even when they are running in synchronous directions. There are so many other factors driving ...
Has a profitable EURUSD pattern been found?
- Trader KGB replied Jan 19, 2008
Arb models drive much of the correlation, when they do run in tangent, it's typically synchronous movement (no lag or lead time). Lately we've been seeing the correlation fall apart. As the Dow was driven to new lows Wed, Thurs, & Fri, USD/JPY never ...

Agreed. MBT/EFX sadly aren't even competitive with rates so high. Hopefully these guys can match Dukascopy and IB's rates of $18-20 per million.

You have it backwards, exchanging USD to CAD is the equivalent of selling USD/CAD. A surplus trade balance in Canada benefits the loonie, thus putting downward pressure on USD/CAD.

Don't be silly. This pair trades nearly $1T/day on its own, discussing tradeable anomalies publicly isn't going to weaken any edge. *** Nice work TrevA. I remember coming across a study similar to this awhile back, which analyzed all pairs during ...

Ah, thanks for clarifying this. I was assuming dollar return, not pips/points. Regarding backtests, could you run one based upon 24 hours, rather than the 12-hour window? I'm curious to see how it differs. Keeping a cut-off time of 10pm Sydney (6am ...
