Rabid replied May 23, 2008Opposite side of the contract issues aside... let's face it, it's a dog eat dog world. As soon as a lot of people collude on a trading strategy someone smarter with more money will figure out the best time to take the opposite side of the trade... ...
What if everybody trades ?
-
Rabid replied May 23, 2008Actually what happens in that case is the currency is pegged to a euro exchange rate. At that point you might as well close the trade since it won't change much.

Rabid replied May 20, 2008Shrug, I keep CNBC on around newstime, otherwise it's not all that useful. Sometimes if I'm in the other room I'll flip over the top line quotes to check my positions, otherwise it's mostly useless. Can't exactly trade on analyst advice.

Rabid replied May 19, 2008Cool, so past that point then. The "coin flip" is funny. Tested a coinflip approach, coinflip+SaR, (exit MoC), it wasn't nearly as profitable as you'd think. The "no free lunch" thread has an inside bar technique based on reduced volatility. A ...

Rabid replied May 19, 2008ROFL. At this point it should be clear that nobody has the holy grail. The only good system is the one that works for you. What works for me probably wouldn't work for you, and vice-versa. Have you read Van Tharp's "Trade Your Way to Financial ...

Rabid replied May 18, 2008Heh, can't. The BoE got wise and hasn't made that mistake again. Today the rates float, obviously. Soros's philosophy is basically "If you're sure of the trade, keep pushing!" and "if you're winning, go all in!" Good rates of return, but his Sharpe ...

Rabid replied May 18, 2008I've avoided collective2 for exactly the reasons specified. There is insufficient transparency to earn my trust. I don't want a series of signals, what I want are more trading concepts that I could adapt as needed. They aim for a "black box" ...

Rabid replied May 18, 2008Basically the BoE wanted to lock the value of it's currency to maintain exports, but wasn't prepared for the difficulty of doing so. Soros came in and traded large enough to mess with the value, starting a cascade when other traders realized the ...

Rabid replied May 18, 2008You just have to do a pair study on each. Pay close attention to their base pairs tho, example: The EURAUD will be heavily dependent on the AUDUSD.

Rabid replied May 18, 2008It's not the system that makes money, it's the trader. Learn to cut your losses really really short, learn to let your winning trades continue winning, learn to manage your profits and losses and the vast majority of "losing systems" will work just ...

Rabid replied May 18, 2008Uh no. Just think about it for a second. EURUSD has 2 components to it's price right, EUR and the USD. But the EUR's price can be determined thru other pairs, as can the USD. For instance to get the EURUSD in terms of the JPY you could take 2 pairs, ...

Rabid replied May 17, 2008Well first, they aren't reading it right. The passages quoted don't do that much and don't necessarily apply to us. At least as traders. Most ppl on the internet would make very bad lawyers. It does look like it'll pass tho, it's a massive piece of ...

Rabid replied May 16, 2008There's a tendency for people to ask for free stuff online. This business isn't a free business, sometimes you have to pay for what you want. This is especially true if it looks like you're trying to take advantage of people's good will.
