Markets are open 24/7, but not to retail traders (there maybe some, but you going to pay high spreads over the weekend). I would not look into this too much. look at your system, is it built in to keep trades over the weekend? Markets move in funny ...

Also events happen at the weekend and therefore markets need to move to interact these events though i imagine the rates between the banks will be higher as there is thin liquidity.
