I cannot explain 'why down?' but I've learned that the yen crosses are stubborn and go further than one expects in one direction, and they move 'like the wind.' I've had my own bad experiences with them, recently.

All the yen pairs dropped; the market is lower now - now people can buy lower; I interpreted this as collective action while it was happening - turns out, the certainty about the price going higher is so strong that a large entity took action.

The yen crosses tend to drop radically in August. We might need to be patient. It's possible a top is in place on both the usd jpy and the gbp jpy, but it's only mid-way through this month. url
