You are responsible for the debt in the UK too. Some people are not persued because either the value of the property covers the loan or it is considered a pointless exercise because they have no assets and no/low income.

This is good news. London property was driven by foreign investment, buy to let and unsustainable low interest rates. Prices had reached unsustainable levels and were totally out of sync with the rest of the country.
