Never pay to prove you are a talented trader. FTMO and the like are unethical businesses that don't worry about trading. They only care about participation fees. That's their businees. They take advantage of newbies lack of knowledge.

Are funding talent prop firms legitimate

Thanks jmoreno for documenting this. Some companies unethical behavior is dangerous for newbies. This type of business is not legal in most countries and pursuit from finance regulatory entities.
