IG Markets is a marketmaker (except if you use their L2 FX Trader which supposedly requires a 50K deposit). So it wouldn't really qualify for ECN or STP or what have you. Spreads appear to be quite competitve tho - but i don't know anything about ...

Sounds a bit like what is called a 'family office' in Europe, just that its 'outsourced' to a bank..

newbie168: what services do you exactly get with this? Is it only about avoiding tax and a little investment advice?

AFAIK, every non-american client that opens an account with an american broker has to sign this form - otherwise you will have to pay taxes in the USA. Maybe there is a problem with a scumbag official in Indonesia, but that doesnt mean that its ...

I doubt they care that they look bad about the $1000 accounts. This was always targeted to retail customers from the outset. They never pretended to be institutional or anything like that. Do you really think 1k or 10K is that much of a difference, ...

I dont get it either. It just costs them money, since the IB gets compensation. I doubt these affiliate websites bring in many genuine new clients, who only sign up because of the IB and have never heard about lmax. I guess the original plan was to ...

I dont know - i have a direct account too, but if an IB offers better commissions i dont think there is anything wrong with it, as long as lmax holds the money. Its still as 'direct' as when you sign up on the lmax website.

So what sort of volume does one need to do to get lower rates? 50m? 100m? 500m?
LMAX = revolution?!?
- shrike replied Jun 2, 2012
Yes well.. an IB without an existing client base probably lacks negotiating power. If you could tell them you bring in X clients who do Y volume per month, it would probably be different. Chicken/egg problem i guess.

Would be interesting what kind of commission lmax offers to IBs. Probably depends on how much volume they bring in. Aramada charges $20 and apparently still makes some money, so lmax gets significantly less than the $20 from Armada trades. Question ...

15 years of futures trading - and still using micro contracts? Still thinking there is no slippage in futures? Damn..

There are only ~16 marketmaking banks in fx who constantly stream quotes. And a bank would certainly not disclose their client's bids and offers, let alone their own, except their marketmaking activity (that would be rather silly). I agree that its ...

According to their forum, its got neither EBS nor Reuters, but "thousands of bank feeds" (??). Impossible to say what its worth, if they dont tell where they get their data from, and then dont include 2 of the biggest venues.

Do you understand the difference between bid and ask ? P.S. it would help if there was a price scale on your screenshot
is this normal? are brokers honest? trades don't close at tp

Sorry to pontificate again, but why sign up with them, if they are not a 'real broker for serious traders' ? Just go with Newedge (good luck..) or LCG.
