When equities do well, risk appetite increases, therefore carry trades get put on, = short yen. When equities do poorly, risk appetite decreases, investors close carry trades through buying yen. You've got the correlation backwards

Hi Barak's pip, I want to be long dollar, but equities are still performing well right now along with the recent rate cut, so I'm definitely hesitant for the time being at going long dollar. 'No brainers' look to work best on whatever the daily ...

USDJPY just hit a pretty identifiable bucket and fib level at 97.44, which I also think is going to establish the lower TL. Something to keep aware of, if the last breakout was any indication we could be in for another substantial move today or ...

Heck, I only trade the EURUSD and USDJPY, and I'm doing fine. Definitely makes things a lot more tolerable if you are trying to increase your confidence and accuracy, although obviously trading more pairs gives you more opportunities.

Hi thewizard, I'm at work so I'm just giving some brief thoughts and may come back to this when I get a chance. If you look on the H1 chart, you'll notice that last week we had a huge selloff in UJ, before a long consolidation (relatively speaking), ...

Hi Gerard, My stops are pretty simple. Usually ~40 pips, give or take some, always placed outside of some local S&R (which affects how much my stop is, could be 30 pips, could be 50). Sometimes it depends on my entry and the preceding price action, ...

Interesting Asian open, Nikkei up +500, USDJPY dropping... reversing the correlation that's been going, at least for the moment. Could just be a little overdone on the buy side, holding off on any trades until I can get a handle of what's going on.

Nice trade, Willowgal. A perfect illustration of breakouts and what I was just saying-- an impulsive move supported by fundamentals. Look at the DOW right now: +340

Hi hendrix, On a trade like last night on the UJ, there was a very well-established trendline and range that it had been trading in, and was ready to blow. I used a market order and entered the trade approximately 15 pips outside the line, because I ...

I think this is a pretty good explanation, Willowgal. This is 'no brainer' basics-- when a level has been recently tested, the less likely it is to hold, especially if, like you said, there was no really 'impulsive' move at the level. Edit: Also, at ...

Bucket on UJ around 94.80 on 15m chart Interesting insight about Gann and price levels being tested/broken. I have noticed that the 3rd or 4th retest of a line has a tendency to be the one that breaks it, but I've also seen lines be tested many more ...

Been following this. Last time there was a similar pattern on the UJ it was broken near the European session open. I'm waiting to see how the Nikkei does tonight, if it can muster any form of strength I think we could have a very strong break north, ...

Stop adjusted to 93.50, it's bouncing off the aforementioned 93.90 resistance right now. We'll see how it does-- I think this is probably a good time to illustrate how dynamic you can be with stops again. I'm only trading a single mini lot (for the ...

I'm long UJ right now at 93.22 This trade doesn't quite fit in the 'no brainer' aspect, but I thought I'd post it because there's a lot of talk about fundamentals lately, and equities just started rising within the past hour, and I got in on a bar ...
