I changed it to EMA 50. But you can do your own research to find particular setting for MA period. But for me 20 is a lot of whipsaw then I changed it to 50.

Problem is when price is stagnate, do you mean the market is going sideways or in consolidation? You need another indicator to detect market is thin or not. Use bollinger band or MACD.

That's liquidity gaps almost always get filled. Very high probability, but as you said SL must be very wide, better outside those alive line so it's never taken out by big guys.

Forex is DECENTRALIZATION market, there is no things about volume. All volume indicator just measure tick volume from your broker, even larger broker like FXCM display volume their trader who trade in their broker.
