Vantage replied Aug 12, 2009I thought this was also very good in explaining candles with volume and what to look for if certain candles happen and don't follow through. For example you might have a hammer with good vol and slightly lower close on following candle with vol ...

Vantage replied Aug 12, 2009This morning we had chats about gu and key levels etc etc and I overthought my basic system. In a downtrend 1 hr had a nice lower close. The 5 min chart has the hourly close highlighted. A shooting star immediately followed, didn't take it as I ...

Vantage replied Aug 12, 2009With all the weakness we were waiting for a push up to 134.50. Again hindsight is perfect but with a higher vol shooting star rejection of 134.50 would love to think we'd have taken it. Our internet connect fell a few mins before.

Vantage replied Aug 12, 2009We had sells at 97, 71 and 62 scalping what we can, now I look back its +42. Whilst we do use 1 min for re-entries we don't normally take so many trades within a few mins of each other.

Vantage replied Aug 11, 2009Thats my understanding of how it works, big dogs set up a move when smaller traders are at opp side of trade. When the big dogs are setting up short US$ on COT and small traders are long then we'll get the turn in GU.

Vantage replied Aug 11, 2009This waiting for hourly set up means you're stacking up the pips and I'm waiting for a trade.

Vantage replied Aug 11, 2009Islander - Steve Briese looks very interesting. Can't help thinking that when commercials and smaller traders are at opposite sides of COT range then big moves will follow. Meaning say big boys are massively short US$ and ordinary traders are ...

Vantage replied Aug 11, 2009Have a look at the hourly chart I posted earlier to see where I start, seems to work well for UK session. Pivots are bands, some days work to the pip some days close as not all start at exactly the same time. These do work well for me though.

Vantage replied Aug 11, 2009We are still on a higher low on daily. Since the (almost) double bottom low of 11 March there have been several good 3 day retracements and then the move up continues. The low of 30 July looks quite important to me, if that fails then maybe $ ...

Vantage replied Aug 11, 2009GU had dropped 400+ pips from its recent peak to 6610 and the minimal 40 odd pip bounce that followed on much lower volume suggested there was more downside to come (especially when the next hourly candle couldn't continue up and had a lower close). ...
