Good job on the short Dutch, and my hat's off to you for paying these spreads. I'm seeing 6-13 wide throughout the day, liquidity is taking forever to come back to this pair. It's been E/U, U/J and the futures for me (I'm a bit of a spread snob

Sydney/Sunday gaps are typically faded, but this one could play out for a while, we'll see where europe takes us. The China news is good, but no stimulus/bailout package has yet to change the trend for any appreciable amount of time.

Surprise 75bp cut, Aussie rallies 3.7%. Surprise jobs gain, 44k over estimates, Aussie falls. I feel badly for any fundamentalists/non-contrarians.

Interesting. All I can say is that on the NY front (and this is mostly pre-2008) the competition to get on a desk anywhere is obscene. Some of my acquaintances come from the highest of academic and experience pedigrees, and they can barely get a ...

Is this a joke? You make it sound as if Barclays will let anyone walk in off the street, give them a trading terminal, and let them trial trade for a couple days on the house. I'm sorry, but that's insane. That might be the case for a run of the ...

Cost of trade (spread) relative to similar costs in other tangential products (futures), only 2 candidates: EUR/USD and USD/JPY. To all of those actually paying these 5-15 pip spreads in other pairs, thanks for keeping the market liquid.

If you could choose 4, 6 or 8 pairs, which would they be?

There have been a few actual studies released over the years that confirmed the 80-95% failure rate. I believe the most recent was done by an accounting firm analyzing the tax returns of all of their trader clients. Alas, I don't have the link handy ...

Keep in mind that they were a dealing desk from '03 - '06: url I'm guessing that the "transition" from DD to ECN was more or less a re-dressing of the frontend, and little changed in the backend. Also, check out their site from '00 - '02 if you ...

You'd simply trade the direct pairs in the opposite direction of your original trade in the amount of your P&L (for P&L >$25k USD). If trading cross rates, you have to convert both sides back.. It is unnecessarily complicated, and we haven't even ...

Those spreads are the same spreads in the ECN space at this time (except for EU, that's a bit tighter 1-2), they've been wide ever since the Lehman bankruptcy. In fact, a 4 pip spread on AU is better than what I'm seeing on a number of ECNs.
