Rabid replied Jan 27, 2009Demo feeds are typically secondary. This means the data is usually lagged a little, sometimes processed a little differently, sometimes it means the feeds aren't as closely monitored, sometimes it means there aren't as many sources in the feed, ...
MBT and doji

Rabid replied Jan 27, 2009What's there to know? Is this just a bash against MBT then? Is this the real feed or just a demo? If you don't like them why are you using them? If you had a trade affected by the problem then contact them and have them fix it. This thing happens on ...
MBT and doji

Rabid replied Jan 27, 2009Bad feed data. It's caused by a single bad price like .5100 getting inserted into the ticker. If you had a trade effected by it then call them and sort it out. Most brokers will research the problem and fix it if you're right.

Rabid replied Jan 23, 2009Uhm, but you're not. Right, but price doesn't move straight in a line. It wiggles, which means price can move back 5 pips before moving forward 10 pips. If your SL is at 5 pips, you're getting stuck in the wiggle. I think your numbers are wrong. If ...
Reverse Strategy Ideas?
-
Rabid replied Jan 23, 2009Unless it goes 6 pips in one direction, then 11 back. If you want to "reverse" the system rules you have to keep the MM, SL and profit targets. You can't cut them in half, if you do, you change the rules and the outcome. As was already said, you ...
Reverse Strategy Ideas?
-
Rabid replied Jan 22, 2009Makes perfect sense. Let's assume a neutral distribution. Now if you double the TP to match the SL you'd also cut your wins in half, ie: 679 trades. 127 wins, 552 losses. Now if you further half the SL, that means the SL is twice is likely to get ...
Reverse Strategy Ideas?

Rabid replied Jan 22, 2009LOL. Liquidity is the money I plan to add to my bank account. Spreads widen when a sudden burst of trades come in, but the typical spread is based on the liquidity (volume being traded). If there are more ppl trading then someone will probably be ...

How Many Pips do you aim for per week?(& Poll Vote)

Rabid replied Jan 20, 2009Luck doesn't really exist. Luck is a temporary deviation from the norm, the law of large numbers cancels it out. If he's setting his TP twice his SL then his entries can't be based on a coin toss method, unless his data is for something small like ...

Rabid replied Jan 19, 2009"The River" is a system based on this. It doesn't test very well, however, as price often ranges around an MA rather than bouncing off of it.

Rabid replied Jan 18, 2009Well I'm saying if the DOW is moving up, you might not want to hunt for EURUSD shorts... lol. At least as far as this goes. I wouldn't make it a system, just find it a curious and somewhat useful correlation in the short term. My concern mostly is ...

Rabid replied Jan 18, 2009An edge can be a funny, and very easy, thing. I've been playing around w/ using Nikkei advancer/decliners as a predictor for the Euro open, and strangely... lately, it works very well. I don't really need it, but I enjoy this business so it's fun to ...

Rabid replied Jan 18, 2009Follow-up: I did find this: url It's not entirely perfect, but you can count the A/D of the FTSE, CAC and DAX. Useful for finding correlations as they exist.
Overseas Advancers/Decliners
-
Rabid replied Jan 18, 2009Uhm, no. There's a big difference between a coin flip and an edged pattern w/ a less than 100% expectancy. I know for a fact that markets are not random. You can even prove it by looking at the distribution of data over time. The market does have ...
coin toss entry question
-
Rabid replied Jan 18, 2009First, no they're not random events. There is some memory to price. Also remember there's a spread to consider. Which means you have to run w/ TPs greater than SLs in order to make money. That means you can't run a coin toss and profit, since the ...

Rabid replied Jan 15, 2009Nod, you can. It's a matter of personal taste, I only set TPs in ranging conditions and then prefer to set them where I know they'll get hit. In this case it would've worked well, not sure how well that change would forward test tho. Right now price ...
