Tailgun replied Nov 1, 2011It seems in recent months if you don't trade during the first half of London you get about 2 or 3 good trading days every few weeks. As far as ranging conditions are concerned, it's pretty easy to see this almost every day during the NY session: 15m ...

Tailgun replied Sep 7, 2011It's not you, it's a crappy morning for flags for those of us who start our trading at NY Open. And, yes, I avoid flag setups when there is no clear trend on the 15m (I determine this by the slope - or lack thereof - of the Bollinger Bands).

Tailgun replied Aug 29, 2011Actually, when I mentioned the 15m chart in my post it's in reference to using that TF as our trend direction for choosing trades on the 1m and 5m charts. During the limited time we trade flags (at least those of us who only trade the London/NY ...

Tailgun replied Aug 28, 2011I agree with Darryl. In fact, flag trading is the only viable daytrading strategy I've found in the past two years learning forex and I intend to stick with it for the long haul. I eventually came around to the 1m/15m variant after being frustrated ...

Tailgun replied Jul 21, 2011I took that one, but got nervous as price was bumping the upper 2-period Daily Moving Average (always a significant Resistance point in my experience) at 4350 and PA briefly slowed. So I closed it out for +6 pips, but it obviously would have gone on ...

Tailgun replied Jul 21, 2011He's talking about the 8:41 EST SUB; I missed it. Shame this last one at 9:00 was too tall.
PA might be finally petering out (retrace, anyone?) after going 180 pips in about two hours.Flag trading the trend

Tailgun replied Jul 20, 2011I took the bearish SUB at 09:29 EST for +15 pips after the 9:00 15m candle took out the HL for the trend direction change.

Tailgun replied Jul 14, 2011I know Jason is a nice guy (I corresponded with him several times back when we were trying to get Trading Station working with MyFXBook - eventually successfully) and I do feel bad about ripping on the changes to the platform, knowing he's the one ...

Tailgun replied Jul 13, 2011Yes, I finally decided after weeks of trying to give up on the 1m flag strategy. I'm sure it works in theory, but I have found it too difficult to insure all the ducks are in a row and still post orders in time. It would help if all the variables ...

Tailgun replied Jul 8, 2011This is illuminating, why have I never heard this mentioned before in the webinars or here in the thread? It does make sense to me, but somehow I must have missed it.

Tailgun replied Jun 29, 2011Here's to hoping you are correct in your assessment. After another rough start to the week I just posted back to back wins in EU and AU. Now we just have a bit more disruption with USD holiday-shortened week next week, ending with NFP. Don't care ...

Tailgun replied Jun 22, 2011Closed UCHF short for +20, was up +35 and was going for +54 (taking TP from sub on daily), but decided I didn't like the retrace and closed out for the guaranteed win.

Tailgun replied Jun 22, 2011Incidentally, I don't know if anyone cares about these things, but UCHF is currently triggering a perfect bearish flag SUB on the Daily chart. The sub is about 70 pips and swissy has been in a long downtrend on the Daily.

Tailgun replied Jun 22, 2011Agreed. What a series of days this week with narrow daily ranges! However, I did get the bearish SUB off 8:31 GU (12:31 GMT) for 15 pips.

Tailgun replied Jun 21, 2011I agree completely. I thought AU was going to give a go earlier but it faded. Everything is flat and in consolidation and I only intend to stick around long enough for high impact USD news at the top of the hour to see if that shakes anything up.

Tailgun replied Jun 21, 2011The stop must be below the last swing low. With a maximum distance of 15 pips (spread included), this prevents trades from being placed when SUBs occur on an ongoing trend too far from the last HL/LH. That is my understanding.

Tailgun replied Jun 16, 2011Div, great news on your daughter and I am PUMPED to hear you may have solved this issue with flags during the past three weeks. It has been brutal and I've been trying my best to figure out on my own how to solve it. I'll be there for the webinar.

Tailgun replied Jun 9, 2011I stayed away from EU there, along with GU and swissy, as price was nearing the outer 2-period Daily MA - which is an area of traditionally strong S/R. Also, there were several divergence signals occuring a that time on those pairs. Also the SUB ...
