Market size is pretty big, if you include OTC trades in LBMA then its likely above 1M contracts daily. In other words the entire annual production of Gold mined annually is traded in 3-4 days.

Apologies I didn't see your question. Sorry I was really tired last night - I meant 11600 ounces, usually its about 100 ounces per contract. My point was about volume per minute being above average but with the price being stuck in one place.
