I do not think that this is correct. Oil prices jumped almost 250% during 2007 and China oil import grew only 12% that year.

Hmm. Price on sugar doubled since summer of 2015 and is +50% during 2016. IMVHO this is quite a trend. Single contract (~$2000 margin) long in January is ~$70,000 today The problem is that very few forex brokers offer soft commodities.

As I said I used it to make raw estimatel. I used to play with different types of MAs and different values between 200 and 300. Also value of moving averages keeps changing. Not sure why 20.3(3) years is better than 16.6(6) years.

200 period MA is often considered as support/resistance line. So I took the months as the longest period available to make raw estimate for a possible global low.

Correlation between gold and usd/jpy is variable. On weekly chart it is positive during this year. And I do not think that usd/jpy determines the price of gold. image

CME publishes daily open interest for metals in general url Gold: url Silver: url BTW, falling open interest often means fading of the trend.
