I tend to set stops 5 pips north of the high of the day for a short trade and similarly, 5 pips south of the low of the day for a long trade.

I use Intertrader.com They are London based and spread for EUR-USD is 1 pip. Spread for EUR-GBP and AUD-USD is also 1 pip. Spread for cable is 2 pips. I hope this helps.
