shellsnail replied May 25, 2015Sounds fancy but show me someone who can do this successfully on a live account above 10k and produce profits over 12 months and I would believe it's possible. IMO, it's simply an excuse for most beginners not to systematise their trading. Not ...

shellsnail replied May 25, 2015So the gist of the system is simple... Most of the time I'm taking small losses/small gains/break-even days. On average once a week I'll probably land a trade that doubles my account. (5R and above) And then I'll drawdown maybe 20-40%, and then ...

shellsnail replied May 25, 2015Not sure if i should toss out Bank Holidays from my trading days... It's a bit mixed... Sometimes there are some really good moves on these days. Only problem is the volatility can be really pathetic too. Think I'll stick with trading them for ...

shellsnail replied May 25, 2015Look at Hayseed's profile. He trades about ALL the pairs and he is only in trades slightly more than 50% of the time. url So if you assume half of those trades are correlated, then it boils down to about 5% of the time per pair. That's it.

shellsnail replied May 25, 2015The question you should be asking all the time... If I enter a trade now, do I have an edge or am I just speculating on this current trade? If you're a discretionary trader, YOU are the system/edge. It's tough to answer this question unless you have ...

shellsnail replied May 25, 2015The Often Overlooked Metric Yeah, according to my edge, 95% of the market movements are random. That seems about right to me. Of course different' edges will spot different pockets of predictability but overall, it should be quite a low %. If you ...

shellsnail replied May 25, 2015Ok. I gave it some thought. Going to dial my max risk down to 20% instead of the current 40. So the plan now is 20% risk until 50k, then 10% until 200k, and 5% until 500k. Estimated timeline is 2-3 years. Thanks for the comments/suggestions!

shellsnail replied May 25, 2015I'm quite confident in mine. Only issue is now the break-even days/weeks slight wins are becoming loss days because of the asymmetry in gains. For example last week Wed and Thurs I had two winners, netting around 1.5R in total. But then Friday's ...

shellsnail replied May 25, 2015There's a slight problem here. Typically, if I risk 1% or even 5% per trade, there's no real asymmetry in the gains. I can start the day with a 1.5% loss, and then end with a 2% gain for a positive day. Now, risking 40%, once I start the day with a ...

shellsnail replied May 25, 2015IMO, if trading was more like gambling in a casino, then maybe fewer traders will lose and we will see more winners. After all they can't ban you from trading like they can ban card counters from casinos. It's precisely because it's not a ...
