Yes, SMA typically means Simple Moving Average. I dont use a smoothed moving average so Im not sure how one would abbreviate that. I can see how this might cause some confusion.

That is not correct. The bollinger bands use an SMA. This is easily seen on a chart if you add a 20 ema to the bollinger bands, they wont match up whereas the 20 sma will match.

That is strange. Have you tried deleting the history in your mt4 and then redownloading it from the broker? Try to delete the history, close and reopen mt4 and then try right clicking on chart and click "refresh".
