My questioning has not been on the basis of whether "I" believe the indexes. The markets use such indexes, which is of much more significance and in a more timely manner. For someone to publicly state that inflation would be at 2% in a few months, ...

. You're right that I have not quoted specific data as I tend to take into account a number of sources, so as to eliminate variations and bias. Just take that as being a scientific approach, as is my bent. My original statements were in response to ...

Yes, I am perfectly aware of that, thank you very much (I'll overlook the second patronising poke in this thread). I AM lost as to what point you're choosing to make here, though, as that is precisely the reason why I have been stating that I don't ...

There's no denying that but how many people does that actually affect and even if they are affected, is that making for distressed sales? Interest rates certainly have an instant impact on Businesses Decisions but does it have the same effect with ...

Yes, we may disagree about Housing Costs. You seem pretty fixed in your position and can continue to deliver charts and data based on HOUSE PRICES, which is all fine and dandy But that doesn't address my points, which look at the impact of HOUSING ...

I'm not rising to the House Price conversation all over again. It's all about 'in the round'. There is nothing, yet, that suggests that CPI is going to decrease as inflationary pressures remain in fine fettle, 'in the round'. PWages are still ...

Average earnings are down but still rising in Real Terms, which while good for folk, doesn't bode well for CPI to decrease to desired targets any time soon.

Quoting Guest Give it a few more months and CPI Y/Y will reach 2%. The problem is that it won't stay at 2%, but rather plummet below it. I am curious as to why you think so. Global trade logistics haven't improved and, arguably, are getting worse ...

No, I DON'T think that QE DOESN'T affect house prices. I do and I stated that I agreed with that concept. The reason for my commenting at all on this thread was to ask the person who commented thus: "Give it a few more months and CPI Y/Y will reach ...
BOE Gov. Bailey: It is important to return UK inflation to target

Yes, it IS complex, so not all simplification is correct. I agree with your statement about QE but in terms of house prices it's somewhat debatable as to whether it actually should be a consideration for RoI, even if the emotional feel has an ...

I didn't believe that the ratio would get above 3 many moons ago, then 7 became the norm and now it's 10. I don't deny your quotes and evidence BUT # of house sales is not the same as actual struck prices and even IF the number of houses placed on ...

Do I believe that the high wage-to-house price ratio is due to a high ratio of demand to supply? Indeed I do. What brand of economics would refute that? Having said that, that is not quite the same thing as absolute house prices and their increase ...

Sure, Bones, I can accept that a measure is debatable to a small extent but IF a measure is collated and calculated consistently, it's still valid for changes in direction over several time periods and IF several measures from different sources ...

Yes, money supply is key but rates tend to have an influence on that. Stating an absolute does not in itself mean there is evidence of it happening currently. The last set of BoE figures indicate Money Supply continues to increase. The unemployment ...

I am curious as to why you think so. Global trade logistics haven't improved and, arguably, are getting worse again due to countless conflicts. There is no sign of significant hikes in unemployment or less than real rate wage increases. House prices ...

Relativity to consider: after the earlier released CPI, GU drops nearly a cent, which means an instant rise of about 0.8% on imported energy prices for the UK. Expect the BoE to maintain the current rates well into 2024.

That depends on whether inflation continues on down, or not. There is a sticky base level in the system. The CB's Interest Rates need to be higher than the real inflation rate to have real effect.
