Arnold49 replied Dec 1, 2008100 to BE — If anyones interested, I posted earlier in Nov' that I was going to start using an EA to set my trades to breakeven after 100 pips profit, well the result was..... no difference! I backtested Oct' and found that this would have ...

Arnold49 replied Dec 1, 2008Cititrade, the 50% rule only cuts in if there are two failed reversal bars that aren't setup bars, I have the same SL as Howard Steve.

Arnold49 replied Nov 19, 2008JokeR & earret, I'm afraid I disagree with both of you, I don't think it's a good idea to cap this system with a 190 pips max, as most of our big wins have been way bigger & it's the big wins that pay for the loses, yes, the system is good at giving ...

Arnold49 replied Nov 12, 2008on closer inspection, the first candle has been deleted, the week now starts at 4am GMT, does this happen often? makes backtesting a bit difficult.

Arnold49 replied Nov 12, 2008I can't believe this, anyone else noticed the first 4H candle of the week has repainted!! (Alpari) lower time frames still tell the truth but not the 4H, I've heard of repainting indicators, but not this. Steve.

Arnold49 replied Nov 7, 2008I will start to use this method next week & will let you know the results, I am going to use the "Swiss army" EA as it has a move to breakeven feature the reason I am motivated to do this is, my account increases so I increase my lots then we lose ...

Arnold49 replied Nov 7, 2008Quick test — I've just done a very rough quick test from the start of November, using a move to breakeven at 100 pips & it seems that the losses would be about halved & the wins weren't affected anyone want to confirm this?

Arnold49 replied Nov 7, 2008TP or not TP — setting a TP may not be a good idea, every time i've tested a system it always performs better with no TP, but either a large trailing stop or a move to break even, might be a good idea, I will have a look at that later.

Arnold49 replied Nov 7, 2008
If I may make an suggestion: maybe add a trailing SL of 100 pips when profit hits 100 pips. I think it is ridiculous to let a 100 pip profit turn into a loser.
Or at least a move to break even so we don't actually lose pips? Steve.

Arnold49 replied Oct 27, 2008please can you explain why? starting from the 1st bar. (I thought I'd got it right this time) thanks, Steve.

Arnold49 replied Oct 27, 2008yes to the Alpari question, but as I said the 1st bar was a valid setup but wasn't triggered by the next 2 bars, the next(12:00) bar didn't need to have a lower low just breaking the lower ema by 5 pips was enough to make it a setup bar(?) Steve.

Arnold49 replied Oct 27, 2008i'm in — the way I saw it was: the first bar was a valid setup bar,the next two didn't trigger a buy so became invalid, the next bar was a valid setup bar and the last bar broke it's high, so now i'm long from 1.5499 Steve.

Arnold49 replied Oct 23, 2008so, even though the low of the previous bar broke the low ema , we dont lower the stop because no new low was formed? is that correct? thanks, Steve.
