Hawkish FOMC minutes yesterday uplifted the greenback and EUR/USD crossed to below the 1.23 handle. It seems that the pair will test the 1.2250 area.

USD/JPY retreated from the weekly high at 107.90 where the bulls faced strong resistance. The pair resumed the bearish trend and now is aiming 107.30.

Yesterday the USD/JPY marked a 15-month low at 106.84 from where now is pulling back. Indicators on the daily chart remain in negative terriroty and had lost directional strength. Despite today’s bounce, below 108.05 the bearish bias prevails.

USD/JPY Discussion

The short term indicators are neutral and suggest more range trading. On the other hand the daily indicators provide mixed signs. I think the USD/CHF will test the 0.9355-0.9335 area.

USD/CHF

Since last Wednesday the EUR/USD is trading within tight range. The upside remains capped by the 1.23 level and despite the short term neutral outlook, the risk leans toward the downside.

EURUSD only

Despite falling to the weekly lows this morning, USD/JPY gathered stength and bounced towards 109.00 handle. Short term bullish outlook can not be confirmed unless the pair move above 110.00 – 110.48.

USD/JPY Discussion

The pair is hovering around 0.9450 (old support, new resistance) and indicators on H4 are losing upward strength. This could be a turning point.

USD/CHF

EUR/USD continued to show weakness today and broke 1.23. Now bears are aiming another round number and will test 1.22 very soon.

USD/JPY found the exit of the consolidation zone. US bulls are back in the game and are aiming 109.50.

Friday’s NFPs boosted the US dollar and USD/CHF is trading higher. The pair is close to the resistance at 0.9375 and there is a potential for next upleg towards 0.94.

US dollar’s bulls are gaining strength on better than expected data. EUR/USD is falling and immediate support at 1.2400 will be tested.

EURUSD only

EUR/USD is pressuring 1.2500 area ahead of NFP. A key resiatnce is seen at 1.2535, a multi years high, and in case of breaking this level on poor US data, the pair more likely will test 1.2600 before closing the week.

USD/JPY remains clearly bearish in the long term and yet is developing within the downward channel that started since January 8. Today the bears paused at 108.30, just above a strong support area. With FOMC ahead this sounds reasonable.
