LasVahGoose replied Sep 1, 2011Yep, at the end of the day that is the bottom line. The instrument is volatile enough you can make money both directions, but the most with the major trend. I think it's just a some 'fun on the side' to try and guess where we are in the cycle.

LasVahGoose replied Sep 1, 2011Based on this CNBC series I'd say we are about to leave the bear trap and enter "media attention". Personally, I'd never buy GLD or any paper instrument representing precious metals. url . image

LasVahGoose replied Aug 31, 2011You forgot the muppets on CNBC saying that gold is in a bubble. Hmm, how long have they been saying that? Since $600 as far as I can remember, so it must be true. If you call the TOP every time gold makes a new high, one day you will be right. Every ...

LasVahGoose replied Aug 29, 2011Haha! Bitter man. No son, the problem is you don't understand the difference between 'trend' and 'direction'. The trend can be UP while the direction can be 'DOWN'. This is what confuses you. The TREND in gold is up, but the current direction is ...

LasVahGoose replied Aug 29, 2011Personally I wouldn't mind seeing a retrace to the 1600 - 1550 area. A good 50% to 62% retrace would really be in line with making new highs down the road (Jan 2011 swing poing). Commodity bull markets run on average 17 - 22 years (Jim Rogers) and ...

LasVahGoose replied Aug 24, 2011Shanghai upped the margin requirements on gold, hence the sell off. They basically pulled a CME in Asia. It'll be interesting to see if the CME ups the margins again.

LasVahGoose replied Aug 23, 2011Depends. In the USA you must have 1:1 leverage to trade the metals (non futures). So either you have a ton of cash and go with a U.S. broker or find a broker outside the states that is willing to take a U.S. customer.

LasVahGoose replied Aug 20, 2011Yeah, the GS guys can actually expense their high end hookers as a business expense. NICE! I however cannot. There was documentary on it floating around somewhere on FF. It is my hope and dream that one day I can afford $3000/hr hookers though.

LasVahGoose replied Aug 20, 2011Everyone puts so much weight on how great the "Big" financial institutions are with their lame algos (that always blow up in the end) and it really is a joke. All the major houses went bankrupt and needed Government bailout money to stay afloat. ...

LasVahGoose replied Aug 18, 2011Taking the other side of your trade has nothing to do with trust. This is fallacy because the broker is 'making the market' and providing a service. Do yourself a favor and read a book on Market Microstructure or do search on FF for microstructure.
