Lol, not a sad life - I keep myself entertained with my regular job as an engineer and just started my own company. Got married a few months ago and travel all the time. But yes, automating my system would free up a lot of time

I don't want to give any bad info, so I'll correct myself. A person can chose to report forex gains/losses on line 21 of the 1040 which is other income. However, I think if you do that then you cannot take the 60/40 split for long/short term gains.

CFTC Proposal? — Has anyone heard anything regarding the CFTC proposal to limit leverage to 10-to-1? I know comments closed March 22, but was wondering when or if a decision had been made.

Man, I'm just the opposite. I usually kill it in ranging markets and when the trend kicks in I'm left with a "runner" that will wipe out a week or two of profit. Luckily for me markets range more than they trend...

Yeah, I pulled that straight from Schedule D instructions, but it probably doesn't matter unless you're audited. In reality though it is their only way to track forex traders since our 1099s only contain interest income.

Yes, but you don't have to enter it on form; you can attach a copy of your transaction history and other forms from brokerage.
