It occurred on a lot of xxx/USD crosses, so perhaps it was a news report; however, I didn't see one on the calendar that coincided with the time at which it happened.

I don't think it faked you out. Looks like it's just heading for the bottom of the pennant it's forming, and will bounce back up.
