Greetings all and especially to the master of self-discipline, Brixen. I feel the need to share this with you because I am hoping it might help somebody and any conversation might stimulate my own thoughts. I started trading the DAX in early 2011. ...

If she talks up the value of the Euro then the DAX will rally with it.

Fear blinds us to opportunity, greed blinds us to danger. Neutral, emotionally and expectation-wise, always be neutral. Thus, trade what you see, never what you think.

Shaping up to be a normal morning - volatility in the first 30 minutes after FTSE opens, then drifts higher, topping out at noon, then drifts lower until the US open after which there is volatility in the first 30 minutes, then drifts...I think you ...

When it's a slow day like today, I watch this to check if I still have a pulse...I'd give it 40 seconds before deciding... video

For the last 30+ minutes the DAX has been going sideways. Why? The FTSE has been straddling it's daily pivot. It'll make up it's mind soon. Why the downdraft this morning? The currency markets have been realigning. Historically the Americans have ...

The FTSE is like the famous honey badger... video In my experience in the half an hour before closing the DAX does its own thing. Then the next half hour it again follows the FTSE until it closes. The DAX is not that a powerful index. It must be ...

I did preface my post by saying it was early. I took a small loss. Isee small losers as aborted takeoffs for an aircraft that would otherwise crash. Do you see why I say that the FTSE leads the DAX? image

FTSE topped out earlier than normal today. DAX is near it's daily Pivot, but FTSE is nowhere near its Pivot. FTSE will drag DAX further down.

Little newsflow today, but 8am tomorrow the UK reports CPI, PPi & RPI. The FTSE and DAX will come to life properly after then. This afternoon no news out of the US too.

News comes out, price rockets, then fades back down to where it started from...all within 15 minutes. It always amazes and amuses me how often it takes 15 minutes. Anyone else notice that?

The usual jittery chop before NFP. But Donald Duck let it slip 2 days ago that the numbers will be good. He just can't help himself from taking credit for anything good that happens.

The DAX rolled over and followed its master lower, as usual. The FTSE hit resistance, reversed and will soon seemingly found support. The British are fretting over their banks solvency. The BoE came out today saying the banks are well-funded, which ...

Well that was horrible morning session. This sort of price action I'd expect in the morning before NFP, but that's only on Friday. Hopefully Mr Market is more generous in the afternoon.

Agreed. SPX is chopping up sideways, the normal behaviour after a big move. DAX still following FTSE. Also prone to traders closing up for the weekend. Then the FTSe does the same. Normal Friday afternoon selloff into the close. I go stopped out and ...

Selling pressure from SPX abating, FTSE soon to follow suit, but then DAX might do its own thing until 5pm CEt after which it will follow FTSE. After 5.30 CET FTSE closes and all hail the US. I'm long DAX now with a wide stop.
