EIA reports a weekly fall of 44 billion cubic feet in U.S. natural-gas supplies

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported Thursday that domestic supplies of natural gas fell by 44 billion cubic feet for the week ended Jan. 3. Analysts expected a fall of 50 billion cubic feet, on average, according to a survey conducted by S&P Global Platts. Total stocks now stand at 3.148 trillion cubic feet, up 521 billion cubic feet from a year ago and 74 billion cubic feet above the five-year average, the government said.
