Jet fuel market shrugs off Boeing 737 Max grounding risks

Fuel traders and analysts have shrugged off the US grounding all Boeing 737 MAX planes Thursday. Jet fuel prices were little changed despite the prospect airlines could introduce older less efficient aircraft to substitute their grounded fleets. Boeing designed the airplane to be 14% more fuel-efficient than today's most economic equivalent jets. The company claims the savings are supported by data from thousands of flights since the plane rolled out in 2017.
