Almost 1 Million Texas Customers Lose Power After Violent Storm
More than 990,000 customers in Texas — about 7% of the total — were without power Thursday evening as an intense rainstorm swept through the Houston area. Most of those outages were in Harris County, according to utility data. Social media posts showed violent squalls in downtown Houston. Flood watches were earlier posted from Dallas and Houston eastward across Louisiana and Mississippi. Flood-prone Houston saw waters rising earlier this month, closing roads, affecting energy supplies and sending residents fleeing.
