U.S. spot natural gas prices at the Henry Hub benchmark in Louisiana fell to a 29-year low in April, according to data from financial firm LSEG. Gas prices averaged $1.60 per million British thermal units (mmBtu) in April, their lowest since averaging $1.59 during the month in 1995. That compares with $2.16 in April 2023, an all-time low of $1.33 in 1991, and a five-year (2019-2023) average for the month of $3.16.
