LEI for China Fell in August
The Conference Board Leading Economic Index®(LEI) for China declined by 0.3 percent in August 2023 to 153.7 (2016=100), following a decline of 0.5 percent in July. The LEI contracted by 1.5 percent from February to August of 2023, a much smaller rate of decline than 3.7 percent over the previous six months. The Conference Board Coincident Economic Index® (CEI) for China inched up by 0.1 percent in August 2023 to 144.6 (2016=100), after a 2.3 percent increase in July.
