Canada’s manufacturing sector slipped into negative territory during May on the back of concurrent falls in output, new orders and employment. Anecdotal evidence pointed to the negative impact of high inflation on spending budgets, whilst destocking remained a common theme amongst manufacturers and their clients. Supply-side stability was reported, as pressure on vendors weakened and lead times improved for the first time in nearly four years.
